Glaucoma

Cataracts

Cataracts involve clouding of the eye's natural lens, leading to visual impairment. Typically age-related, cataracts result from protein changes in the lens. Patients would experience yellowed vision, blurriness, or dullness. This condition could potentially affect both central and peripheral vision. Surgical removal of the cloudy lens and replacement with an artificial intraocular lens is a common intervention.

Retinopathy

In a 2017 longitudinal 8-years study*, researchers found that students with vision impairments lag behind in reading development by 2 years. For adults, this constitutes a much lower level of Reading Accessibility Index (ACC)**, which is a measure of an individual’s access to text across  type sizes in the day-to-day.
